WRITING

My writing centers primarily on food and personal history. I’m a wannabe gastro-ethnographer who is really just a curious chowhound at heart, always excited about her next meal.

	My piece entitled, “Silving Lining: Building a Shared Sudananese Identity Through Food” ran in the Winter 2010 10th Anniversary Edition of Gastronomica. I am currently working on a “Namibian Meat Diary” for Gastronomica, which I hope will be published in 2012.
I served as the food editor at ColorsNW Magazine between 2005 and the end of 2008. This made me the envy of all my friends and I received a steady stream of offers from those willing and able to accompany me on my research. As food editor I produced a monthly profile piece for the magazine.

In addition to the food writing, my generous editor-in-chief at Colors NW allowed me to take a stab at writing feature articles, which provided a welcome respite when I had run out of synonyms for the word “delicious.”
